Bull Redfish Fishing on the Alabama Gulf Coast

Alabama Bull Redfish Fishing Charters

The Alabama Gulf Coast has some wonderful Fall, Winter and Spring fishing available for those who want to catch some monster Redfish right off the beaches of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan.   Tourist season is over by the end of August and our charter captains and fishing guides are chomping at the bits for cooler weather and the arrival of the Fall Bull Redfish.

Often overlooked by tourist, the Bull Redfish that swarm the Alabama coastal waters and give local anglers that know about them, the opportunity to catch monster sized Bull Redfish on light tackle.  The fight you will experience while trolling or sightcasting for Bullreds is phenominal.   There is not one other gamefish in the entire Gulf of Mexico that offers more fun than the Bull Red.

There are some inshore fishing guides that fish near the jetties or in the bays for the smaller sized "slot" Redfish.  We are not talking about those fish.  They can be caught any time of the year.  We are talking about the Bulls that head offshore for the Summer and return to the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores coastline right around the middle to end of October.  Generally, they show up about a week before Halloween with some consistency.

The reason you should book a 4 hour Bull Redfish trip is because they can be caught any day of the week.  There is a limit of one per person but you can catch and release them all day long.   It is not uncommon to ride through a mess of them right on the surface busting top water.  This is when you can use a jig and spinning rod and wear them out.  From young to old, Bull Redfish fishing on the Alabama gulf coast is just plain wonderful.

If there was a drawback to fishing for these Bull Reds, it would be that sometimes we have to go and find them.  It is not instant gratification.  We have to ride the charter boat down the beach until we get a strike on the trolling lures or we see them on top of the water.  Either way, the four hour trip is not an expensive trip and the results can far outweigh the fare paid.
