Clint and Kimberly Butler are from the Huntsville, Alabama area. They came to Orange Beach and Gulf Shores for a family vacation. Their boy's, Hunter (14) and Alec (11) were with their cousin Fil and their first cousin, Peyton. The Butler family booked this 8 hour charter because they wanted these boys to catch some nice fish and experience an amazing fishing charter.
We trolled out this morning and we caught a nice Jack Crevalle and then we caught a Bonita before we got to our first fishing reef. The Boy's were beat after reeling in these nice fish. The Jack Crevalle gave them a fight of a lifetime. The Bonita was not as large but gave an equally good fight.
Our first stop was priceless. Everyone dropped their lines and hooked up on a nice Red Snapper. Some lines were broken off instantly by King Mackerels and others were hanging on. It was funny, watching everyone hook their first fish of the day.
We moved around and fished a few more spots. We caught plenty of Red Snapper, but had to release them. Today is the last day that we have to wait to harvest Red Snapper. The season opens tomorrow, June 1.
Our last reef of the day was extremely productive. We caught some nice sized Red Snapper and caught a bunch of Amberjack that were in the mid 22 to 25 inch range. They were a fight of a lifetime on light tackle.
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama offer families like the Butler's a wonderful opportunity to experience saltwater fishing at its best. We really appreciate days like this and we look forward to the Butler family's return.
