Gulf Shores, Alabama has long been known for the wonderful deep sea fishing charters that are available. Gulf Shores is the center of the Alabama Gulf Coast and is nestled cozily inbetween Fort Morgan and Orange Beach. The best fishing charters operate out of Orange Beach Marina in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Today was a wonderful Fall day with a brisk 58 degrees at 7 am. We headed out of the Orange Beach Marina and went under the bridge at Perdido Pass and headed out into the Gulf of Mexico. It was only a few minutes before we had our first Spanish Mackerel onboard. Spanish were jumping like crazy just right off the beaches of Gulf Shores. We were fishing with Cigar Minnows and drone spoons. We also put some lures out to try and catch some King Mackerel. The Kings were a little slow to start biting but when they got warmed up, they went to biting.
We worked our way out to the deep sea, around the Allen Ship Reef and the Trolling Alley near Gulf Shores. The water was pretty calm except for the slight chop that was created by the Northeast wind. We had 5 baits in the water when we saw a billfish come up and take a swipe at our cigar minnow we had on the flat line. It was a Sailfish that came back and ate our cigar minnow. The beautiful Sailfish was lit up and was jumping out of the water and dancing on his tail. We got him to the boat and quickly removed the hook, photographed and released.
The amazing thing is that during the fall of the year, every year, Gulf Shores has some wonderful fall fishing available for everyone. This one was a 4 hour trip which is one of our shortest trips we offer. We look forward to seeing you soon on your family fishing adventure.
