Trolling fishing for King Mackerel is really heating up. In the past few weeks, the saltwater temperature in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach has risen 4 degrees, up to 74 degrees. With the water temperature so warm, the King Mackerel are starting to arrive close to shore.
This 18 pound King Mackerel was caught by Chris Russo and we were right off the beach about 1 1/2 miles south of the sea buoy located near Alabama Point or Perdido Pass. The emerald green water had been brown for a few days but today it cleared up and the fish bite was good in the late morning.
