Mercier Family Fishing CharterMercier Kids fishing Charter

Dr. Doug Mercier, Linda, Elle, Samantha, Mathew and Matt from Senatobia, Ms. came down for a 6 hour light tackle fishing charter.  We headed out for a 6 hour light tackle fight.  We caught Red Snapper, King Mackerel, Gag Grouper, Mangrove Snapper and a monster 110" Bull Shark.

Matthew's Red SnapperWe love family fishing charters like these.  Everyone was felt at home as we headed out to sea.  The kids all came upstairs and helped me drive the charter boat.  Gulf Shores was beautiful with the sun shining on the pristine white beaches.  There were a few clouds in the sky with a gentle soutwest breeze.

We fished a few reefs and had a lot of luck.  We caught some nice Red Snapper but had to release them.  We also caught Mangrove Snapper and King Mackerel.  We even caught a baby gag grouper that we also released.

The last reef produced a couple of big shark bites.  Lem got the shark rig out and put down some cut bait.  He waited for about two minutes when we saw the tip of the rod start jumping a bit.  The Bull Shark below was eating.  In the blink of an eye, Doug was hooked up to a monster Bull Shark.  It pulled hard for a while.  Matt Linda Beale's Fishing Hardtook turns with Doc and Linda stood by and watched.  The young adults, Matthew, Lily and Samantha all sat upstairs with me watching Dr. Doug Mercier fight the fish.  Matt would take the pole and then quickly give it to Lem.  Lem would hold it while everyone got their breath.

Bull Shark in Gulf Shores bends the rod and reelThis was no ordinary Bull Shark.  This was a Man Eater that was ready to fight.  After an hour, we finally got the monster shark to the surface.  When she saw the boat, she moved her tail and she was gone again.   We finally got it up and got a good measurement of 110".   This was a 300 pounder.

Linda decided to have the shark mounted so Dougbull shark almost to the top would always remember it.   We look forward to next years fishing charter in Gulf Shores.
