The weather was really nice today in Orange Beach.  We left the Orange Beach Marina aroud 7 a.m. for a day on the water.   Gently easing out of the slip, I could smell the Sausage cooking and my hunger got the best of me.  I had me a cup of Costa Rican Coffee by my side and I could tell that Deep Sea fishing today was going to be special.

The Distraction was gently easing along through Moron Straits when a few bottle nosed dolphins came up beside us and gave us the nod.  It was almost magical to see them come within a foot of the rear side of the boat.  Dolphins seem really like interaction with charter boats.

We headed through the Perdido Pass and headed out with the Gulf Shores sandy beaches behind us.  Mile by mile, the condo's on the beach got smaller and smaller.  The wind was gentle and the temperatures were warming up to make a perfect fishing day.   Deep Sea fishing during this time of the year in Orange Beach is really special.  Most of the time, we loose about 50 percent of our charters to high winds and approaching cold fronts.  Today was going to be just right.  The seas were small and almost nothing as we rode offshore to some deep water.

Our first couple of drops were very productive.   We caught Red Porgy, Triggerfish and some nice Red Snapper.   Lem was steady swapping baits and trying to get a grouper to bite.   It did not take long before we were catching some really nice fish.  Jacob caught this nice Scamp Grouper that tipped the scales at over 15 pounds.  That is one big fish.
