Gulf Shores College Spring Break Fishing Charter is fun

Bull_Redfish_Fishing_Charters_Gulf_ShoresFriday morning started off great for the crew of the charter boat Distraction.  We met our group of KA fraternity brothers at the boat at 8 am.  For some reason, college kids like to sleep in?  Go figure.  We headed south of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores and worked our way offshore to deep water.  We stopped on our first fishing reef and began deep sea fishing with cut bait.  We were trying to catch Vermilion Snapper and Trigger Fish.  The bite was not that good until we got enough bait in the water.  The bite began to turn on.  We caught a lot of small Vermilion Snapper and White Snapper but our boys did not want to keep fish to eat.   We released them so they could be caught another day.

After 20 minutes, we began to catch Big Red Snapper, Amberjack and Redfish.  All of these fish gave these young men a great fight.  We had our normal backlashes, hiccups and uh ohs with these fellers learning how to stop a fighting fish that ranged from 5 to 12 pounds.  Our largest fish was a Red Snapper that weighed 16 pounds.

We had a great first day of Alabama's Spring Break and fishing on the Distraction.  We look forward to a few good weeks of fishing before everyone returns to school.
