Spring Break in Gulf Shores, Alabama has been absolutely wonderful in 2011. So far, we have been fishing every day with weather patters similar to Summer fishing in Orange Beach but without the heat and thunderstorms. The bait fish are moving close to shore and the Spanish Mackerel are arriving as we speak.
This fishing charter departed Orange Beach Marina on the Distraction Charter Boat at 1:30 pm today and we worked our way around Moron Straights and underneath the Perdido Pass Bridge toward the rock jetties at Alabama Point. There are people everywhere fishing around the Jetties on inshore fishing boats. Right now they are catching Sheepshead, Pompano and Redfish. But today, we were not interested in fishing close to shore. There are Redfish Biting as well as Snapper, Triggerfish and Bonita.
With fishing being so good this year, we are surprisingly pleased with the number of tourist on Alabama's Beaches and a lot of them are going deep sea fishing with us. Most of the families who are in town are tired of being cold this winter and the Gulf Coast is providing a much needed relief from the cooler climates.
We fished hard and caught and released a lot of fish this afternoon. Our guests did not want to keep any fish for supper.
