Doctor Steed wanted to take his son and his friends deep sea fishing this Memorial Day weekend charter to take his son Toryn out for some quality time on the water. Dr. Boling who is also from the Jackson, Ms. area also attended with his son Hughes. We met at 0730 am this morning to get a start on the day. The weather was finally fishable. We had a low pressure system all week that kept us from getting out fishing south of Gulf Shores, Alabama.
As we headed south into the rolling seas, we were trolling five lines behind the boat. Lem was pulling just about every kind of lure and bait he had. There was a lot of rain this week that messed up the water clarity and evidently pushed the fish further offshore.
Toryn and Hughes who were both 10 years-old anxiously awaited their turn fighting a nice King Mackerel.
We trolled for just over an 1 1/2 and I saw a school of bait fish on the surface. I went beside the school and it did not take long to get hooked up on a nice King Mackerel. After we got the king in the charter boat, we turned around and headed back through the school of King Mackerel. Trolling is a lot of fun when the fish are biting.
We continued this circling until we had about 5 kings in the box. Time was upon us to turn north. We picked up three additional kings and a nice Spanish Mackerel.
We appreciate the opportunity to get to serve these young men and their fathers.
