Lessons Learned In The Corporate World Were Priceless

I worked for years in the corporate world before leaving to create the best family oriented saltwater fishing guide service in Alabama. I am a graduate of the University of Alabama. My years of experience as an executive and working in management for a fortune 500 company gave me the opportunity to take everything that made us great and use it to build the best charter fishing company in the world.

I learned some great business lessons from some of the best businessmen in the country that were priceless.

When I started fishing professionally, I used to ask some of the old time captains in Gulf Shores, how do I become a good captain? Almost overwhelmingly, they would say, “you have to catch fish.” Well, that was true. Catching fish has never been a problem. At least part of it was true. Catching fish is only part of the formula for success. In order to be a good captain, you have to listen to your customers and understand what they are saying. You have to do the right thing every time. Professionalism has to permeate throughout your organization.

Being The Best Saltwater Fishing Guide In Alabama

In order to really be successful as a charter fishing captain, I had to do first listen to my guests. I wanted customers to have fun on their fishing charter. I had to do it better than my competition. In order to be good, I knew I could not take a shotgun approach to deep sea fishing. I could not be everything to everybody. I knew I had to specialize in what I did best and go after it.

I chose light tackle fishing as my primary gear to fish with as my first specialty. I knew that light tackle fishing allows customers to enjoy catching fish. You can actually feel the Red Snapper fight hard on light tackle. This makes fishing fun.

Stress-Free and Laid-Back Saltwater Guide

I went after the family business because I know that I can give families a kind and gentle fishing charter.  I love kids and love watching them catch their first fish. I have a laid-back attitude which permeates throughout the day. We want parents and kids to have a stress-free fishing charter.  Your family is safe with us. We do not curse or throw fits if you hold your rod upside down or do something incorrectly. You will never get fussed at by me.

It’s your fishing charter and if you want to stop and smell the salt air, we will do it. Your charters are about you and your family’s happiness.
